Reception Phase

Reception addresses the intervention needs of children between the ages of 6 and 9. The reception curriculum almost mirrors our Flutterbys curriculum with regards to neurodevelopmental processing, but focuses a lot more on the academic aspects of the child’s development.

The curriculum and activities are arranged and graded according to the child’s individual strengths and weaknesses in their own specific programme. The focus is on addressing all the underlying skills necessary for functionality whilst creating a solid foundation for continuous learning.

Neurodevelopmental processing

Comprises of sensory integration to lay the foundation for academic learning. Sensory integration develops a child’s:

  • Vestibular system
  • Visual and auditory processing abilities
  • Fine motor skills
  • Gross motor skills
  • Oral motor functioning
  • Tactile perception
  • Proprioceptive systems
